The People’s Issue, No. 15
WHEN I BEGAN writing this editor’s note, I had wanted to discuss all of the issues at hand: the pandemic, BLM movement, and the fractured state of our country. I wanted to give insight, an answer to all of this madness, or at the very least, to convey solace and guidance. I wanted to tell you all that everything, in the end, would be alright. In truth, I’m not so sure at all. But what I do know is that, no matter what, we, as humans, and as a community, must remain resilient. We must stand up against any unjustness. And when there is injustice, we must take action. We must move forward, and be ready and open to change. And we must never lose sight of hope.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a platform. And so, this issue, The People’s Issue, is dedicated to all of you, our community, to help amplify your message of hope, sadness, anxiety, encouragement, escape, action and political discourse. In this issue, are not only meaningful profiles and interviews produced by our dedicated teams, but also stories that were written and photographed first-hand by our readers: local artists, students, photographers, writers, journalists, and teachers. To all of you: To our contributors, readers, and advertisers, we are all in this together. There was a time when we thought this issue would not even be able to go to print. Because of you it did. Thank you so much for helping make The People’s Issue possible. We are halfway through 2020. Hang on to your hope.
